Season 9 Rules
Playing Rules
- Mostly regular hockey playing rules, 3 on 3.
- If a team is down by 4 or more goals, they get to add a fourth skater onto the ice. As soon as the goal spread is 3 or less they must return to 3 skaters.
- No penalties, just penalty shots.
- Major penalties will award the other team 3 penalty shots.
- Face-offs only at the start of the periods.
- Equal ice time is required for all players. If a team is not practicing equal ice time then they may be given a penalty or even have to forfeit the game.
- Off-sides, icings, etc results in a possession change, no stoppage.
- Fighting, dangerous plays, etc can lead to suspensions or being removed from the league.
- After a whistle the team in the defensive zone and the team gets the puck they will get approximately 5 to 10 seconds to exit the zone and the other team must wait outside the blue line. After 5 to 10 seconds the other team can go into the zone to try to get the puck.
- For the 5-puck shootout, previous shooter must exit the zone before the next shooter can enter the zone.
- 3 min warm up before the game.
- Period times are 17 minutes run-time.
- In the second period, stop the clock for any penalties.
- Away team runs the score-clock for each game.
- It's important to start the warm-ups and periods on time, otherwise there won't be time for the 5-puck shootout at the end of the game.
- Playoff groups will be created to make the games as competitive as possible. The standings will not be the only factor when determining playoff groups.
- Once the groups are determined, the standings will determine the seeding within those groups.
- The teams 5-puck shootout record is used as a tie breaker in the standings.
- Rosters are locked when each teams first game begins.
- "Spare players" or "free agents" can play for multiple teams, they pay a fee per game they play in.
- Spare players can not play in playoff games.
- Spare players can play in a maximum of 3 games per team they're sparing for.
- Before spare players can play in a game, you need to ask me for permission for each player and for each game they play in.
- Each team needs a team manager, this will be the primary contact for the team.
- Coaches are not required, kids can run the bench themselves.
- Each team needs a safety person at each game, this can be the coach, manager or any other parent.
- Teams need to bring their own safety kit to the games.
- Players or teams should bring their own pucks for the warm up and the home team will supply the game pucks.
- Volunteers can play music between games, during the warm up, between periods and during the 5-puck shootout.
